ADA Chicago office to close during NATO summit May 21

The ADA’s Chicago office will be closed on Monday, May 21, as a precautionary measure over protests expected to take place during the May 19-21 NATO summit in Chicago.

The ADA office will be open during regular business hours on Friday, May 18.

“The safety and security of our staff members and the ADA office necessitates this closure,” said Dr. Kathleen O’Loughlin, ADA executive director. “A number of other organizations in Chicago are also closing on May 21. Providing our members with outstanding service is important to the ADA. We regret any inconvenience this may cause and greatly appreciate your understanding.”

The city of Chicago has heightened security, closed streets and made extensive changes to public transportation. The arrival of more than 100 heads of state and expanded security forces and planned protest activity will affect the downtown area through Monday afternoon.

Callers on May 21 will receive an automated voice message about the closing. Normal business hours resume on Tuesday, May 22.
